Provenance : was acquired via our client who's family are heavily involved in the filming industry. This amazing one off piece was inherited by the clients great aunt Dilys Powell, who was a BAFTA award winning film critic. The clients father Ivor Powell was also part of the production of 2001, along with writing and producing credits for Finch (2021), Blade Runner (1982) & Alien (1979).
The artist Jan Parker was invited by Stanley Kubrick along with another artist to document the production of 2001. Jan Parker over the course of two days produced many sketches and photography in which one of his notable pieces was published in the Spring 1966 issue of SIGHT & SOUND to accompany an article by David Robinson on the then concurrently shooting FAHRENHEIT 451 & 2001, plus Piers Bizonys 1994 book 2001 FILMING THE FUTURE.
